Preliminary Exercise
We started to record footage for our preliminary exercise on the 16/09/10. After editing the footage, we realised that we had no audio.
We decided to record new footage with audio,on the 17/09/10, and we are currently in the process of editing our final piece.
When we had completed our final video, we had a small problem when trying to render. After resolving the issue we have completed our final preliminary exercise video.
We have also created a storyboard for our preliminary exercise. We will be uploading the styoryboard after finalising our footage.

Prelimary Exercise
The 180° rule is a basic guideline in film making that states that two characters in the same scene should always have the same left to right relationship to each other.

Prelimery Exercise
Shot/reverse shot
Shot reverse shot is a film technique where one character is shown looking at another character, and then the other character is shown looking back at the first character. Since the characters are shown facing in opposite directions, the viewer assumes that they are looking at each other.

Prelimery Exercise
Match on action
This is a the cut from one shot to another view that matches the action and pace of the first shot. This allows conitnuity, even if the shot has been filmed days apart. Also, if a character begins a action in one shot and completes it in another shot, a visual bridge is created to disguise the cut from one to shot to another.

Continuity
Continuity, also known as time scheme, is the consistency of people, plot, objects, places and events seen by the viewer over some period of time. Most productions have script supervisors to attempt to maintain continuity throughout a scene.

Prelimery Exercise
Our first brief is a prelimery exercise. In this exercise our group will produce a continuity exercise which involves a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair opposite another character, with whom they exchange a couple of lines of dialogue. This task should demonstrate:
- Match on action
- Shot/reverse shot
- 180 Degree rule
Introduction to Media Studies
My name is Sol Ilett.
I have decided to take Media studies as an A level because I believe the subject will be enjoyable and gives me the ability to be imaginative. The subject appeals to me as I have an interest in I.t and it allows me to improve my knowledge using programs, such as video editing software.
In my group is:
Sam Guy - www.samguymediastudies.blogspot.com
Thomas Speechley - www.tomspeechleymedia.blogspot.com
I aim to produce an high level production in AS to achieve the highest grade I am capable of.
We have decided to call the group Sharrison Productions.
